A StyleScoop ghd on my wish list…

2 Comments// Posted in About Me, On- and offline Shopping, Random by on 08.12.11.

I usually attempt a wish list a few weeks before my birthday, but I’ve literally been lusting after some of these things, with most of them being way out of my budget but thought I’d make one as a dream board of sorts. Perhaps by my birthday I’d be gifted something I long for or hopefully I’ve saved up enough to afford a self-splurge on at least one item.

On the geeky gadgetry front:

I always tend to get gadgets that I can use for work and play; and an iPad would be perfect in the industry I’m in, publishing. The BookBook case has been on my covet list for a while and it’s obvious why I like it.

On the fashionable front:
The classique Christian Louboutin Very Prive peep-toe, need I say more? Ever since seeing these gorgeous red soles, I’ve pictured wearing it with my black maxi skirt and a red and black polka dot blouse, that I can’t seem to find anywhere in Cape Town.

On the beauty front:

I’ve recently been converted to using Bobbi Brown cosmetics and have just started building my collection of essentials as my budget allows each month… but how exquisite is this Exclusive Deluxe Beauty Trunk?

Then last but certainly not least, the Iconic Eras ghd. After my ghd broke, I haven’t been able to replace it but I am very much wishing that I’ll win this Glamour Collection set on StyleScoop.co.za. That would be one item checked on my wish list.

If I had to win a ghd from StyleScoop…

My husband works in an industry where appearance is very important. The suit, a double-cuff or banker shirt (with collar bones) and a perfectly matching tie. He dresses like he’s going for an interview everyday and can pull off the entire corporate look very well. I’ve never had to influence his wardrobe choices ever, in fact, I’ve probably become more fashion savvy because of him.

But it doesn’t end there, stopping short of a mud wrap at the spa, he uses a more expensive moisturiser than I do and isn’t afraid to groom his hair with a ghd.

So, I already explained why I should win a ghd and after reading this cool article on Men’s hair trends at StyleScoop.co.za, I thought I’d tell everyone that if I had to win one of the Iconic Eras Collection ghds, I’d share it with my husband (but will keep the awesome clutch for myself, hehe).

He has rocked a few hair styles since we married and because he has naturally wavy hair, prefers to keep it neat and straight. These are two of the cuts I like particularly. (Photos shared with his permission, of course!)

1. At one stage he had grown his hair for a while and I actually liked the long hair on him, much to his mum’s dismay. A ghd worked out well with keeping his “do” sleek for work everyday.

2. Then he had a haircut and has kept the shorter length (and even shorter :( since our ghd broke), that looked best bedhead and so styled with the ghd to add a grungy feel to his usual and very formal weekly attire.

Needless to say, a ghd would be an item of shared affection for us :)

When I’m obsessed… I’m really obsessed…

If my tweets are anything to go by, my likely obsessions are fashion and shopping. See this neat infographic generated by Visual.ly.

I do not oppose that opinion of me for one second, because for a very long while now, (since after I got married to be exact,) I’ve been obsessed with clothes, shoes and all things fashionable.

So after attending and thoroughly enjoying my first CT Fashion Week runway shows and discovering many talented local designers (some of whom really like my style if I may add,) who cater for the Muslimah specifically, I’ve decided… over the next few months or as I have time, I’ll be evolving my personal blog into a fashion one along with my hijab-sensible point of view.

Internal dialogue…

1 Comment// Posted in Life, Thoughts by on 07.25.11.

Some major things have been happening in my life of late and because of it my blog has been very quiet but I have been having this conversation in my head about whether or not I want to divulge.

Here are some of things that’s been randomly filling my thought bubbles.

I consider myself a private person and if I don’t see the need to let someone into my personal head space, it probably means that it really isn’t any of their business or that I don’t like them very much. However, I also think that, at the right times and with the right people, sharing could possibly help someone else in a similar or even the same situation. Sharing is caring and all that, after all.

Now, I also don’t want to open up to simply get attention from the WWW. If I wanted attention, I’d have splurged every inch of my life’s details on twitter and Facebook as it was happening. Even though there are a few people online that I want to interact with and hear what they have to say, I know the majority of the interwebs would have a lot of opinions about my life that I’d rather not want to hear.

But then there’s the need to just want to offload. The kind of offload where a diary entry doesn’t suffice and where you rather want to hear someone tell you that they completely understand because they’re going through the exact same thing. Just re-reading that last paragraph makes me seem more dramatic than I like to be…

I think the crux of my internal dialogue is, do I want to make this “personal” blog a whole lot more personal than it actually is or should I rather keep things the way that they have always been.

Why I need to win a ghd with StyleScoop…

1 Comment// Posted in Photos, Random by on 07.22.11.

Yes, I wear hijab… but does that mean I don’t like beautiful hair? I love pretty hair just as much as the next girl.

So here’s why I need to win a ghd with StyleScoop. (Click the Facebook page links and like them while you’re there.)

My husband bought me (and secretly, himself :P) a ghd styler over 3 years ago and it has sure had it’s fair share of work. With styling and curling flowergirls’ hair for many weddings and being the life of the party when a bunch of friends just want to have some fun during an evening in or a weekend away. See it hard at work in the picture on the right.

So after years of serving me well (and many repairs I should add), my ghd styler sadly gave in and died.

So while missing styling my hair into perfectly coiffed curls, I saw this amazing competition happening over at StyleScoop.co.za.

Not one, not two, but THREE limited edition, Iconic Eras ghd stylers are up for grabs and I have my eyes set on the Glamour Collection above. So head on over to StyleScoop.co.za and find out how you too could stand a chance of winning a limited edition ghd styler.
